The ROAD project has been initiated by Uniper Benelux (previously E.ON Benelux) and ENGIE Energie Nederland (previously GDF SUEZ Energie Nederland). Together, they constitute the joint venture Maasvlakte CCS Project C.V. Two envisaged partners of the joint venture are the Port of Rotterdam Authority (for CO2 transport) and Oranje-Nassau Energie (for CO2 injection and storage). The ROAD project is financed by parties including the Government of the Netherlands and the European Commission within the framework of the European Energy Programme for Recovery (EEPR).
